If you liked the nature gifs I made for years here on tumblr, you’re gonna love my new project on YouTube shorts.

I love gifs. In the digital world, gifs feel like a perfect cross of photo and video. Sadly, it seems there has been less innovation with the format than with video. Back in 2014 Imgur did a thing to upgrade gifs by converting them to video then display them back as gifs. Allowing gifs to be larger and higher quality. But, thats just one platform and I don’t feel like thats the future.

I’m hesitant to say this but now with TikTok, Instagram reels, and YouTube shorts it feels a little bit like the evolution of gif. This time with sound.

But who really knows. Tumblr might be working on something amazing right now.
